What a beautiful picture, Makalya! I think that you have chosen an image that really captures the beauty of the beach. It is making me yearn for the summer time and for warm weather so that I can go swimming. My family actually has a bach at Karekare beach and we often go for walks along the black sand beach. It took me awhile to get used to the black sand but, now, I'm used to it. The only disadvantage of black sand is that is gets really, really hot. The sand retains the heat from the sun and it can actually burn the bottom of your feet if you walk on the black sand without jandals - ouch!
ReplyDeleteFortunately, we don't have to worry about that too much right now because it's winter time and the water is way too cold to swim in. Speaking of winter and swimming, have you ever heard of a 'Polar Plunge?' It is an event where people get together and go for a swim in the ocean in the middle of winter.
Would you ever agree to jump into the freezing cold ocean in the middle of July? I don't think that I could be convinced to do it...
Hope that you are having a great break, Makalya. Apparently the weather is supposed to change over night and become really, really cold so be sure to bundle up and stay warm and dry over the next few days.
Cheers :)
