Term 2 Immersion Assembly

Today, was Day 1 of Term 2 for the students of Pt England school. I was so excited for school to start up again as I missed all my friends and my classroom. Our school-wide topic for this term is 'I like your Latitude'. We also had our school Immersion assembly to introduce the topic to all the students and to teach the other students what we and other students were learning this term. Our teachers informed us of what we're learning this term by acting, making a movie or explaining. My favorite team item was Team 4. I liked their item because it was funny yet very educational. I also learned what Team 5 was learning about, this term we will be learning about different country's around the world but mostly continents. But overall I'm very excited to learn about the different things this term.

FIOP - Letter To Mrs Stone

WALT: Write for a specific purpose
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dear Mrs Stone,

Paragraph 1: Introduce who you are (things like your culture, family, age)
Hello my name is Makayla. I am Samoan, Maori and Niuean. I live with my mum and I am an only child. I turned 12 years old on January 18th.

Paragraph 2: What are some of your interests or favourite things ?
I really love baking and cooking, I think it is really cool how there are so many ingredients to use in cooking and baking. I also love binge watching Netflix to see new and old TV shows and movies.

Paragraph 3: What do you like and dislike at school? What are your goals for 2018?
In school my favorite subjects are Literacy and Inquiry. I don’t really like Maths because I’m not really good at Maths and I think it is really complicating. My goals for 2019 is to work hard and to focus on my school work. I want to set these goals so I can have good results this year as it’s my last year here.c

Paragraph 4: What does a good teacher do? How can Mrs Stone support you this year?

I think what makes a good teacher is to be nice but to also be hard towards kids, by hard I mean having high expectations because then it allows the children to think out of the box and try their best to meet your expectations. This year I think Mrs Stone can help me by letting me know what I should work on and ways to improve.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Task Description: For this task I had to write a response letter to Mrs Stone telling her more about me. We had to make sure that it was written in full sentences and it was in the right structure. After that I had to post it on my blog. I hope you enjoy.

Guest Speakers - Careers

Today in Team 5 we had three guest speakers come and talk to us about their careers. The visitors we had today were Fiona Bakulich, Tanielu Tele'a, and Jason Young. They came today to talk to us about their careers and tips about life and the process towards a good career. First we had Jason talk to us about his career and life before that. He naturally grew up in Auckland and was a student at Pt England School and Tamaki Intermediate and College. He also works at Dysart Timbers in Glen Innes. We then had Fiona talk to us about her career, She is also family with Mrs Tele'a. She is a funeral director and is a cast member on the show of The Casketeers. After her we had Tanielu, he is Mrs Tele'a's son and an ex Pt Englander. He is a team member of The Blue's and also played for the Samoan under 20's going into the Junior Rugby World Cup. They had a lot of tips and messages for us, most of them were to stay in school and work had so that we can do well and move up into great things for life.
